Fuel consumption tests for thermal and hybrid vehicles
Standardised measurements - WLTP
Accurately measure the energy consumption of your vehicles under standardised and realistic conditions
The Emitech Group offers rigorous consumption tests for thermal and hybrid vehicles, carried out in accordance with European and international homologation protocols, or adapted to specific needs. Thanks to our chassis dynamometer equipment and our mastery of driving cycles, we deliver reliable data that can be used for validation, optimisation and product communication.

Why measure fuel consumption?
- Meet regulatory requirements (WLTP, NEDC, FTP, etc.).
- Assess the vehicle's energy performance.
- Compare different powertrains (thermal, parallel/serial hybrid).
- Provide transparent commercial or technical communications.
- Identify avenues for technical or software optimisation (calibration, engine strategy, etc.).
Which vehicles are affected by these measures?
- Thermal petrol or diesel: passenger cars, light commercial vehicles.
- HEV hybrids: petrol or diesel engines with electric assistance.
- PHEV rechargeable hybrids: validation of consumption in thermal, combined and electric modes.
What parameters are measured to establish the fuel consumption of a thermal or hybrid vehicle?
- Fuel consumption in l/100 km according to defined cycles.
- Energy balance for hybrids: thermal vs electric.
- Battery recharging behaviour (PHEV).
- Fluid temperature, engine operation and energy management.
Test methodology
Tests on an air-conditioned chassis dynamometer
- Simulation of standardised driving cycles:
- WLTP (European reference cycle since 2018)
- NEDC (old European cycle)
- FTP75, US06, etc. for export markets
- Standardised load conditions (weight, tyres, accessories, etc.).
- Controlled temperature (generally 23°C or 14°C depending on the standard).
Track or road tests (on request)
- Additional measurements in real-life conditions.
- On-board fuel consumption readings (OBD, fuel flow meter).
